Personalized station mixes- Classic FM and iSelector
Each week, Classic FM has more than 6.2 million listeners across the UK. As well as the radio station, Classic FM has grown to include Classic FM TV, a 24 hour classical music video channel; the Classic FM Magazine, a record label; live concerts and book publishing. Now they add to the list one of the first interactive classical music services ever launched.
In order to get this groundbreaking stream active Classic fm turned to technology from RCS called iSelector. iSelector is a personalized online player, streaming the radio station’s content to each of your listeners who can customize the stream to their liking. iSelector players are totally branded with the station’s graphics and true to the format and personality of the station, yet interactive for the web listeners. Each listener gets his or her own unique sequence of music, which improves their enjoyment and empowers the individual.
Nick Piggott, Head of Creative Technology at GCap Media plc commented, “We have followed the development of iSelector from an early stage, and have been really pleased to be able to use it to deliver a personalized listening experience that competes with some of the best personalized music services on the web, but centered on the Classic fm brand. We will be using iSelector to create personalized versions of our other key radio brands including XFM and Choice fm.”
Robin Pembrooke, Group Director of Online and Interactive said, “My Classic fm has been a roaring success with our user base and has helped us achieve a 60% year on year increase in web traffic to the station’s sites. It’s a key part of our strategy of building our market leading online listening experiences”.
